Erica-Cody is making a powerful return with her latest single, ‘last man standing’. Drawing inspiration from the kinetic energy of sticky-floored dancefloors, the Irish artist delivers a shimmery, heart-on-sleeve R&B offering infused with a distinct UKG twist. The track is both bouncy and addictive, leaning heavily into the singer’s club influences to provide a definitive lover girl anthem.
This release serves as a precursor to a forthcoming project, which promises to explore the complex peaks and troughs of romance through a series of earworm hooks. Born from an emotionally charged studio session, ‘last man standing’ represents a significant shift in the singer’s trajectory, showcasing a more unapologetic approach to her journal-entry style of songwriting.
Reflecting on the creative process behind the track, Erica-Cody shares:
“‘last man standing’ came from a session with Ollie Marland and Welshy while I was right in the middle of a situationship I genuinely thought was evolving into something real. I was holding onto the potential of him instead of the reality of who he actually was – and, of course, I was proven wrong. Once we landed on the hook, the song kind of wrote itself. It was one of those sessions where everything just clicked, and having a male perspective in the room made it hit even harder and feel more honest.”
With this latest release, Erica-Cody continues to solidify her reputation as a bold new voice in the contemporary R&B landscape. Tune in now to experience the evolution of her sound.
