Brighton three-piece Honeybadger have shared their new EP ‘State Of Play’ in full.
The band caused a ruckus at The Alternative Escape recently, playing a packed out, sweat-drenched set. Heading to East London, Honeybadger then launched their new EP with a night at cult Clapton rock bar Blondies.
Brand new ‘State of Play’ EP finds the three-piece — Eddy Widdows (Lead Vox, Lead Guitar), Luca Brett-Smith (Bass), and Joe Widdows (Drums) — at their most raw and urgent, blending Stooges style garage-punk with raw indie rock.
Reminiscent of Dinosaur Jr in places, matched to aspects of Royal Blood perhaps, or even Them Crooked Vultures, Honeybadger have a sound all of their own.
Produced by Paul Win (Slag, Royal Blood, Architects), the crushing EP reflects the febrile atmosphere of the UK in 2026, with the band attempting to find light amid the darkness.
Honeybadger comment…
“At its core, ‘State Of Play’ is a reflection of modern pressure, digital disconnection and societal unrest. It tackles a world where people hide behind screens, truth is distorted at the flick of a switch, and power operates increasingly in the shadows. It’s our most raw expression of release in a world where no one can hear you scream. No polish, no Mr Nice Guy — just exactly how it feels to exist right now.”
Tune in now.
