Chicago rapper Mello Buckzz is facing a series of legal challenges following her recent arrest in Chicago. According to police records obtained by XXL, the artist, whose legal name is Melanie Doyle, was taken into custody on June 15 after a traffic stop escalated into a criminal investigation.

Authorities reportedly pulled the rapper over for a tinted windshield violation. During the subsequent interaction, officers claimed to have discovered a small quantity of marijuana in her purse, alongside an open container of alcohol located on the floor near the front passenger seat. The situation intensified when Mello Buckzz became uncooperative, leading officers to remove her from the vehicle. A search of the car revealed a Glock handgun stowed beneath the driver’s seat, which was later confirmed to have been reported stolen in the southwest suburbs of Chicago.

Currently held at the Cook County Jail, Mello Buckzz faces multiple charges, including aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of resisting arrest, driving with an obstructed windshield, and transporting open alcohol. Given that she was already on probation for a 2024 case, the legal implications of these new charges are significant as she awaits a scheduled court hearing.

Despite her incarceration, the artist reached out to her fanbase via a social media post on June 19. In the audio message, she addressed the situation while maintaining her focus on her upcoming project, Pretty Opp, which is slated for release this week.

“I really wish I was coming to send this message obviously from home but I’m not. Things didn’t go that way. Y’all know I’ve been trying my hardest to rebrand myself and my image. Stumbled across a couple blocks but it’s nothing to a big dog.”

She further encouraged her supporters to remain steadfast, stating, “They can’t hold a real bitch down for too long! Stay prayed up. I love y’all. Don’t believe everything y’all see on the internet. Don’t believe the hype.” She concluded the message by reaffirming her commitment to her career and her fans, expressing a desire to be free to deliver her new music personally.

As the legal process unfolds, representatives for the Chicago Police Department and the artist’s team have been contacted for further comment.
