While discussing his latest literary work, Vice President JD Vance jokingly referred to Diddy as a “great Christian theologian.” The comment, which drew chuckles from the audience, served as a sharp critique of the former rap mogul’s public persona and subsequent legal downfall.
On Thursday, June 25, 2026, JD Vance visited the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum to discuss his book, Communion, which explores his personal journey through faith and politics. During the event, the conversation turned to a specific chapter in the book titled “More Money, More Problems.” The title is a clear nod to the Notorious B.I.G.’s 1997 hit song, “Mo Money Mo Problems,” from his iconic album Life After Death.
Vance utilized the reference to poke fun at the disgraced mogul, stating, “Well, again, I’m a millennial and so I believe that’s, uh, that’s the wisdom of the great Christian theologian P. Diddy. Who, as we found out over the last couple years, is very much not a Christian or a theologian.”
The Vice President went on to clarify that the chapter title was intended to reflect his own early life experiences, where he initially prioritized financial success and prestige over spiritual growth. He noted that as his fame and wealth increased, he found his life becoming increasingly complex, eventually leading him to seek clarity through his faith and family.
The quip comes at a time when Diddy remains incarcerated. He is currently serving a 50-month federal prison sentence following a conviction last July for transportation to engage in prostitution. Recent legal adjustments in March reduced his sentence by 40 days, with his current release date set for April 25, 2028.
