New Order’s Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert will step back from touring this year, marking a significant change for the legendary Manchester outfit. The band recently confirmed a new series of live performances, including a highly anticipated appearance at Primavera in Chile—their first show in the country in seven years—but the announcement arrived at a bittersweet moment for their dedicated fanbase.
In an official update, the group confirmed that founding members Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert will not be joining the tour due to personal health reasons. Despite this absence, the show will proceed as planned, with Bernard Sumner continuing to lead the band alongside long-time members Phil Cunningham and Tom Chapman.
The band released a statement regarding the lineup change: “Due to personal health reasons, Stephen and Gillian won’t be touring for the foreseeable future and will not be joining for this show. Bernard, Phil and Tom are really sorry that Stephen and Gillian can’t join us this time, but unfortunately the circumstances make it impossible.”

As New Order and Joy Division prepare for their upcoming induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame later this year, questions remain regarding the potential for a full reunion performance at the ceremony. For now, the band remains focused on their current commitments, leaving fans to wonder who will join the lineup for future appearances.
