Judge Rules Lil Durk’s ‘Pissed Me Off’ Video Admissible in Murder-for-Hire Trial

A federal judge has officially ruled that the music video for Lil Durk‘s 2021 track “Pissed Me Off” can be used as evidence in the rapper’s high-profile murder-for-hire trial. The decision, handed down on Thursday, August 13, by U.S. District Judge Michael Fitzgerald, marks a significant development in the legal proceedings against the Chicago artist.

Prosecutors successfully argued that the content of the video and its accompanying lyrics serve as critical evidence regarding the defendant’s state of mind and intent. According to reports, the government contends that the track demonstrates Durk Banks’ willingness to retaliate following the death of his associate, King Von. In the song, Durk raps, “Boy, no cap, I got killers that I love and they don’t rap,” while appearing on screen with significant amounts of currency. The lyrics further reference the act of providing financial support for weaponry and bail, which the prosecution intends to link to the broader conspiracy charges.

The underlying case involves allegations that Durk orchestrated a murder-for-hire plot targeting Quando Rondo, whom he reportedly held responsible for the 2020 death of King Von. The incident in question, which occurred after a confrontation involving Timothy Leeks, ultimately resulted in the death of a family member of Quando Rondo. Lil Durk, who was arrested in October 2024, has maintained his innocence and entered a plea of not guilty.

As the legal team prepares for the next phase of the trial, jury selection is slated to commence on August 20, with opening arguments expected to follow shortly thereafter on August 21. Representatives for the rapper have yet to provide a formal statement regarding the judge’s latest ruling.
