Tate McRae isn’t holding back.
Despite it being incredibly early in her career she’s already become a potent pop force, with her one-song-per-week ethos driving fans into a frenzy.
Racking up 100 million (!) streams on her debut EP ‘all the things I never said’, she is rapidly eclipsing her peers.
New single ‘You Broke Me First’ takes Tate to the next level, a crisp, electrifying piece of future pop.
To mark its arrival in the world Clash spoke to Tate McRae about her cultural obsessions…

Book…
Honestly not much of a bookworm myself, but do love poetry. I’ll admit I’m a huge fan of poetry books and journal-type things. I usually resort to writing rather than reading most of the time.
TV…
Obsessed with the office. Funniest show, hands down. I’ve gone through so many seasons of it, and usually I’m the worst at finishing TV series.
Film…
I’m a rom-com kinda girl. I love movies like “He’s just not that into you, When we first met, Crazy Stupid Love, etc.” I don’t know why, I have a big soft spot for them. The weird part is I’m really not the romantic type. Not a fan of the cheesy, extra stuff in relationships… but when it comes to movies, romantic comedies are my go-to.
Music…
The Weeknd’s new album. SO GOOD, wow. Literally every song is a banger. Been jamming out to his album everyday since it was released.
Gadget…
My microphone. I’ve been recording so much music at home, it’s my favourite thing to mess around with. Will forever not get bored if I have that around.
