Clash DJ Mix – Lou Hayter

Posted by

Lou Hayter has deep roots in London’s clubbing underworld.

As a musician, DJ, and visual artist, she inhabits the realm where illicit music and fashion crossover, imbuing her work with a deft sense of energy.

Debut solo album ‘Private Sunshine’ lands on May 7th, and it’s a neat about-turn from the singer, who previously worked with New Young Pony Club and Tomorrow’s World alongside JB Dunckel from Air.

The album is a pot pourri of club flavours, moving from vintage acid shapes through to imperious 80s R&B, allowing her Gallic pop tastes to interweave with her 00s electro roots.

Each new single paints a much broader picture, with ‘Private Sunshine’ representing a nuanced, multi-layered experience.

Lou has crated a fantastic mix for Clash, opening with the minimalist textures of Steve Reich before saluting MF DOOM and SOPHIE; a dexterous, hugely varied selection,
