George Eve's 'Gates' Video Is A Cute Salute To West London

George Eve has become at ease with his surroundings.

He’s had too, after all – the past 12 months have restricted him to walks and cycles around the streets, roads, and lanes that extend from his flatmate.

New single ‘Gates’ was constructed during this time, a haphazard guitar ramble that suddenly clicked into place, an easy-going meditation brought into focus alongside studio partner Sam Duckworth.

Out now, there’s a breezy summer charm to his acoustic chords, and that lilting vocal. He comments…

“One day I was noodling on the guitar and found the song’s easy groove. I was feeling pretty happy at the time, so I tried to be as honest as possible lyrically and the whole song emerged at once. It made me feel better about what I was experiencing at the time, so I hope it can help other people too.”

George Eve shot the video himself, taking to the streets of West London with an iPhone to document his rambles.

A love letter to his lockdown surroundings, he passes street art of Amy Winehouse in Ladbroke Grove and the original Rough Trade record store on his travels.
