Matt Berry Shares Psychedelic Mind Better 'Summer Sun'

A number of pundits are predicting a Second – or Third, depending on your count – Summer Of Love.

Lockdown is easing, so the argument goes, and this feeling of commonality will sweep across the country, with the vaccine runs its course.

With that in mind, Matt Berry’s new psychedelic opus couldn’t be better timed.

Due for release later this year, ‘The Blue Elephant’ is a swirling, tripped out song cycle, one that arrives draped in guitar effects and smothered in incense.

It’s all carried along by his astute songwriting and gift melody, something that ties together his multitude of musical projects.

Lead single ‘Summer Sun’ is out now, a gorgeous piece of psychedelic pop that puts Clash in mind of The Zombies, The Nice, or even aspects of Stateside gurus The Seeds.

The languid effects hint at 21st century developments, while the bubbling, lysergic feel is perfect for those cult mixes from The Amorphous Androgynous.

We’re able to share the full video, and it ties together Matt Berry’s influences, adding some colour with its sweeping imagery.

A true feast for the outer aspects of your consciousness, you can catch ‘Summer Sun’ below.
