Without much fanfare ahead of its release, YoungBoy Never Broke Again‘s documentary American YoungBoy has reportedly earned over $1.1 million in its first week at the box office. The film, which offers an intimate look at the life and career of the Louisiana rapper, has proven to be a commercial success despite its quiet rollout.

According to a report from Box Office Mojo, finalized on Sunday, April 26, 2026, the documentary debuted at No. 10 on the weekly box office charts. The film, which opened in 583 theaters on April 22, has resonated strongly with fans, netting over $1.1 million domestically.

Directed by Nico Ballesteros, American YoungBoy chronicles the rapper’s massive MASA Tour, which grossed nearly $70 million in 2025, cementing its status as one of the most successful solo rap tours in history. The film provides viewers with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the historic tour, alongside candid moments of the rapper’s home and family life. The project was produced by NBA YoungBoy himself, in collaboration with Patrick Hughes, Kyle Claiborne, and Antoine Banks.

The film’s theatrical run has been marked by intense fan engagement. Reports indicate that audiences at various cinemas transformed screenings into rowdy, impromptu concerts, leading to instances where theater managers were forced to intervene. In one notable incident in North Hills, N.C., police were called to a Regal Cinemas location on April 25 following reports of a large crowd involved in a disturbance. WRAL reported that seven teenagers were detained and subsequently released to their parents following the screening.

Despite the chaotic atmosphere in some theaters, the financial performance of American YoungBoy underscores the immense, dedicated following that the rapper continues to command.
