Polly Scattergood recently returned after a break of seven years.
Taking time out from music, she underwent a few life-changing events – becoming a mother, her perspective was left completely altered.
New album ‘In This Moment’ is out on May 1st, and it finds the songwriter attempting to explore these changes, re-connecting with the muse after all this time.
Returning with recent single ‘Red’, her journey continues on new release ‘After You’.
A graceful offering, ‘After You’ offers a gentle farewell, with her plaintive vocal offering a reflection on parting.
The song, she says, “is about saying goodbye to a friend. I wanted to capture a youthful spirit that will forever live on.”
Polly continues: “We deliberately made the music feel positive with warm synth lines and wide soundscapes. We wanted it to feel like a collective energy set against the more reflective lyrics of an individual and their own personal loss, a message in a bottle amongst billions floating in the same ocean.”
We’re able to share ‘After You’ in full, alongside the full video – tune in now.
