The songwriter is back, and describes new single ‘From The Back Of A Cab’ as “probably my favourite song that I’ve written”.
Refreshing and deeply infectious, the lilting melody sits on top of a complex yet surging 12/8 rhythm, a nod to Persian and African music.
He explains: “I built the song around those drums over time, writing the piano part in my living room, the melodies and lyrics on foot walking in New York and Tokyo, on California’s highways, and on the flights and car trips between all those places.”
The video was shot by Jason Lester and Rostam, and produced by Laura Burhenn for Our Secret Handshake; the concept is simple – taking the title literally, it shoves Haim, Charli XCX, , Kaia Gerber, Seth Bogart, Remi Wolf, Bryce Willard Smithe, Samantha Urbani, Wallows, Ariel Rechtshaid and Nick Robinson in the back of a cab.
