Over a decade in the game, the Canadian guitarist, vocalist and lyricist has established himself as a blues-rock artist. New offering ’Try’, a sneak peek into a forthcoming album, leans into a fresh new terrain of alternative rock, however. Throughout, Stevens’ songwriting carries a rich emotional depth, allowing for the track’s warm acoustics to truly flourish.
The Montreal-based musician’s expansive catalogue and repertoire pulls from the works of Radiohead, Tom Petty, Tears For Fears, Peter Gabriel and The Smashing Pumpkins, while constructing its own identity on stages across the globe.
Speaking on the release, the artist shares:
“Try is about never giving up, no matter the circumstances or how dire your situation has become. This new record is probably the biggest departure from my traditional blues-rock roots. It’s the riskiest blending of genres I’ve attempted, and I’m curious to see how listeners respond.”
