New York, NY – Brooklyn Drill rapper CoachDaGhost has reportedly been arrested in Georgia for the March murder of 17-year-old Bryan Sanon. According to The Daily News, 27-year-old CoachDaGhost — real name Culture Bermudez — was taken from Clay County by New York Police Department detectives on Friday (December 3) and extradited back to New York City.

Bermudez, a member of the Hood Starz street gang, has a long rap sheet. In 2011, he was convicted of shooting a rival gang member at the Marcus Garvey Houses in Brownsville and served six years in prison. Although he was released in 2017, court records showed he was still on parole until 2022.

Sanon was on a walk with some friends when a gunman hopped out of a silver sedan and opened fire on the group early that morning. Police said Sanon’s 20-year-old friend was shot in the face and another 19-year-old male was grazed in both legs, but Sanon died at the scene.

Investigators quickly connected CoachDaGhost to the murder, but he’d already fled the state and detectives weren’t able to find him right away. The victim’s mother Juliana Gopie-Sanon, who was at a doctor’s appointment when she got a crime alert on the Citizen app, saw a teen had been shot near her home.

“I didn’t expect that I would come back and not see my son,” Gopie-Sanon said. “I just want to know why. What did he really do to deserve this? My baby — I only have one son. The last thing I saw of my son is him lying down in a crouched position covered in the white blanket on the road. I just wanted to hold him. I just wish to see my son right now. I just want to see him and hold him.”

CoachDaCoast often rapped about gun violence in his music. In April 2020, he dropped a song called “Hitlist’ in which raps about shooting fellow Brooklyn rapper Fivio Foreign.

“Now let’s take a trip to the Foreign Side,” he raps. “Let me know if you run into Fivio (Let me know)/Grab the shits, with the sticks, yeah, it’s time to roll (It’s time)/He a goofy, I promise I’m just being honest/I got it, you spot him, then I’ma blow (Baow).”

CoachDaGhost has been charged him with murder, attempted murder and assault. His arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court was pending Saturday (December 4).
