Buffalo, NY – It’s pretty clear Freddie Gibbs and Benny The Butcher are no longer friends. Over the weekend, a fan witnessed Gangsta Gibbs being attacked by alleged associates of the Griselda rapper in Buffalo, New York. Gibbs was at a restaurant in town right before taking the stage on his Space Rabbit Tour when the attack happened, and the witness shared the incident on Twitter.
“I just saw Freddie Gibbs get beat up and his chain took while I was eating in buffalo Ny @FreddieGibbs @Akademiks @WORLDSTAR #explore #WSHH,” he tweeted. “Chain off video. Freddie Gibbs was running in his security didn’t help.”

Gibbs supposedly had his chain stolen, and the witness claimed he had video footage of the incident and would only post it if Akademiks reached out to him. It’s unclear as of press time if Akademiks got a hold of the footage.

Gibbs, on the other hand, took the stage later that night with noticeable lumps on his face, including a swollen eye. Fans were questioning why Gibbs’ face looked so injured, but rumors circulated even more when an alleged text message from the Alfredo rapper speaking about his stolen chain surfaced online.
“20 n-ggaz deep this all they did, couldn’t even take my shit,” read the text message under two images of a bunny rabbit pendant. “Tell them n-ggaz come harder next time.”

Issues between the two rappers began in March when Benny said his working relationship with Gibbs “came and went” during an interview on Spotify Greenroom’s Most Necessary: Live. The Gary, Indiana-bred rapper didn’t take too kindly to the comments and fired back at his former collaborator.
“Just keep my name out y’all mouth, man, when y’all talking to people who are doing interviews and shit,” Gibbs said on Instagram. “Just say ‘next question, man. I don’t want to talk about that n-gga, man.’ Just say ‘next muthafucking question.’ For real.”
