Hit-Boy Gives His Picks For The Best Beats He Produced In 2020

There aren’t many people out there having a better 2020 than Hit-Boy. The superproducer’s comeback campaign saw him light the year on fire when quarterbacking albums by Nas, Big Sean and Benny The Butcher. A fan took to Twitter wondering about Hit’s best beats of the year and the Grammy-winning producer gave his picks Friday morning (December 4).

“I’m goin wit 27 summers, sly green, salute, and deep reverence off Detroit 2,” he wrote before asking for more fans to chime in with their thoughts. “What y’all think my best beat is in 2020?”

All of Hit’s selections ended up on different projects. “27 Summers” came from Nas’ King’s Disease album, which is nominated for Best Rap Album. “Sly Green” appeared on Benny The Butcher’s rugged Burden of Proof, while the Grammy-nominated “Deep Reverance” features the late Nipsey Hussle on Big Sean’s D2.

Hit even stepped into the artist role to flex his rhymes on the horn-tinged “SALUTE” in November, calling on Fivio Foreign and Big Sean for assists.

“Salute when you see me/That jealousy shit is an ocean and you either float or you sinking,” Hit-Boy raps demanding his respect on the opening verse.

The HS87 leader isn’t done with 2020 just yet, as he looks to continue his dominance by locking in another joint project alongside Chicago rapper Dreezy. She released her sophomore Big Dreez album in 2019.

“Me and @Hit_Boy 12 songs in,” she wrote last month.

Hit-Boy also declared victory atop the throne for producers in October when saying he came with the most production versatility of anyone in the game this calendar year.

“I don’t like being controversial and I love all my producer homies but I came wit the most styles in 2020,” he wrote. “Look it up.”
