Hot 97's Ebro Calls Out Charlamagne Tha God For Lawyering Up Amid Funk Flex Drama

Funk Flex played a recording over the weekend of a mother accusing Charlamagne Tha God of raping and drugging her daughter Jessica Reid in 2001.

The alleged sexual assault took place over 20 years ago and is something The Breakfast Club co-host has already addressed. In 2018, a petition was started asking for Charlamagne to be fired from iHeartRadio due to the alleged incident.

But according to documents obtained by The Blast, his DNA wasn’t found in Reid’s rape kit. The reports revealed there was no evidence of any semen found inside Reid from an oral, vaginal and rectal swab. But Funk Flex isn’t convinced and now, Ebro Darden has hopped in the mix after learning Charlamagne has supposedly hired Bill Cosby’s ex-attorney Marty Singer again.

“So…. when you gossip for a living, people gone gossip about your allegations,” Ebro tweeted on Sunday (May 23). “But you sending lawyers? Now when you were going at Flex did he send lawyers? When you went at Mister Cee did anyone send lawyers? When you edited Cipha’s audio and lied did anyone send lawyers?”

Ebro also stressed the importance of broaching such a sensitive topic in order to help other people.

“People make bad decisions and can change, but when them old bad decisions come back to haunt you… In this game it has been fair game in the past,” he continued. “Drugging and Rape of a minor should be examined for generations to make sure other young men do not think this behavior will be swept away just because they have power and influence.”

The Apple Music host ended with, “I have mostly left this topic alone because I don’t want to contribute to the pile on. But you sending lawyers bro?”

Funk Flex also unearthed a pair of tweets Charlamagne wrote in 2010 about R. Kelly, who’s currently incarcerated for a string of sexual assault allegations involving minors. He wrote simply, “Pattern” at the top.

“R. Kelly looks 20 something,” Charlamagne wrote at the time. “The fountain of youth can clearly be found in teenage vagina. Furthermore, R. Kelly had the best celebrity sex tape of all time.”

Charlamagne Tha God’s accuser Jessica Reid was reportedly 15 years old at the time of the incident. Charlamagne went to the police in an attempt to clear his name but ended up pleading guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor for having alcohol at a party where the alleged incident took place.

Funk Flex Dredges Up Charlamagne Tha God’s 2001 Sexual Assault Case

He was sentenced to three years of probation, but the charge of sexual assault was dismissed. Singer explained at the time, “More than 17 years ago, Charlamagne was accused of a sexual assault. He never had sexual relations or any physical contact with the accuser and even provided DNA to prove it. At the time of these claims, Charlamagne cooperated fully with authorities, and after the investigation, this charge against him was dropped.”
