Ka Ma Redefines Her Sound on ‘Fearless’

Posted by

Ka Ma marks her return with the release of her latest single, ‘Fearless’. Serving as a precursor to her forthcoming record, Picasso – The Art of Loving, the track arrives as an empowering spark of tranquility, masterfully blending soulful grooves with a distinct sense of R&B nostalgia.

With rich and textured production, Ka Ma fosters a deep connection with her listener, branching out her sound through collaborations with Australian artist MightyMike and Riccardo Di Gianni. Born from a late-night studio session, the release offers a compelling glimpse into an extended body of work that delves into themes of self-acceptance, discovery, and the complexities of self-identity.

A Philosophical Approach to Sound

The last decade has seen the artist delve into her multi-cultural heritage, drawing from different corners of the globe to grasp a deeper understanding of her personal journey. On ‘Fearless’, she turns towards Eastern and Western philosophy, navigating between Taoist balance, Carl Jung’s concept of the ‘shadow self’, and the literature of Erich Fromm.

Speaking on the track, Ka Ma shares:

“‘Fearless’ is where different parts of you meet – like a Tao, a balance of opposing forces becoming one – a space where my roots come together and dissolve into something hybrid and undefined. I don’t believe in labels; I believe in multiplicity. As Carl Jung suggested, we all carry different selves, different masks, different archetypes – and in this track, they take shape through sound and genre. ‘Fearless’ is a fusion of R&B, soul, urban rap and Indian-inspired soundscapes. But beyond the sound, it’s a deeply introspective journey of healing, self-discovery and liberation.”
