Kevin Gates Appears To Confirm He & Wife Dreka Have Split In 'Super General' Freestyle

Kevin Gates is preparing to drop his third studio album, Khaza, on June 17. Ahead of its release, the 36-year-old rapper has appeasing fans with random loosies and freestyles. On Thursday (June 9), Gates shared a freestyle called “Super General” over the Kodak Black instrumental for “Super Gremlin.”

Toward the middle of the song, Gates appears to confirm he and his wife of seven years Dreka have split. He raps, “Went home to sleep, deep down, there’s tension when you knowin’ that somethin’ missin’/Suck it up, put all my energy back in Islah and lil’ Killa/Took the blame in interviews and made it look like I was trippin’/Made the Dreka song lie to the world while tryna protect her image.

“Tell me you love me, I say it back/Back in my mind, I’m indifferent/Brought this infiltrator to the farm/Hurt my heart, what am I missin’?” He also suggests she cheated with, “Personal trainer invaded my personal space/Deep down inside it killed me.”

“Super General” arrives shortly after he was spotted with Love & Hip Hop star Jojo Zarur. He also included photos of Zarur in the video for the song.

Kevin Gates is typically tight-lipped about his family life. While he and Dreka share two children together — Islah and Khaza — it’s unclear how many others he actually has.

As he told Complex in 2013, “I got some children. I’m real real close with them. I lay in the bed with them, hold them, love on them. It really doesn’t make sense to say [how many kids I have]. Not in a bad way, but it’s not like the public will ever get to see my children, and if they do see them, they aren’t going to know they’re mine.”

However, Gates did get rather vulnerable during a recent appearance on the Big Facts podcast when he admitted he was contemplating suicide at one point.

“I’mma say something on this interview that I’ve never said before,” he said. “December 10 through the 12 was the hardest for me [last] year. I disabled my Instagram … See, I don’t do the, ‘Man, I’m ’bout to kill myself!’ I don’t want no attention. I was going the way of the samurai. Just smash myself because I was to the point I ain’t wanna live no more.”
