Kodak Black Tells Artists To Sign To Atlantic Records Amid Criticism From NBA YoungBoy & Meek Mill

After Kodak Black showed love for his fellow label mate Ed Sheeran by gifting him an 1800 Block chain, the Pompano Beach rapper took to Twitter on Monday (February 28) to encourage other fellow artists to sign to Atlantic Records as well.

The plainly-worded tweets come shortly after other rappers such as Meek Mill and NBA YoungBoy accused Atlantic Records of blackballing them, with both rappers being extremely vocal about Atlantic’s transgressions on social media.

“Why black ball me I’m the good guy !!!??” YoungBoy wrote for his Instagram return in January. “I was going #1 two weeks straight with a mixtape so they took it down off the charts. I don’t give a fuck you still can’t stop me don’t sign to Atlantic if you a artist they not gone support you especially if you live a certain way.”

As for Meek Mill, he accused Atlantic of “raping” him out of managing Roddy Ricch at the beginning of February. “So look I made Atlantic records 100’s of millions and let them rape me out out Roddy a artist they came to me about in jail,” he wrote. “They still saying I can’t drop music until 9 months after my last album got blackballed.”

Kodak’s decision to vocally support Atlantic is a curious choice, especially after he already raised some eyebrows by having Lil Durk be the sole feature on his latest album Back For Everything. Lil Durk is currently embroiled in a volatile feud with NBA YoungBoy, so a few fans saw Durk’s presence on Back For Everything as Kodak choosing sides.

“Kodak and NBA gon beef next once he see Durk the only feature on his new album,” one fan tweeted, while another wrote, “Kodak album only feature is Lil Durk we never getting another Kodak x Youngboy again.”

However, Kodak denied his involvement in the beef during an interview on DJ Akademiks’ Off the Record podcast last October, saying instead he was a fan of both artists.

“Both of them boys make great music,” he said. “YoungBoy, he like a lil bruh. Durk’s great, too, he makes great music. As long as a n-gga don’t come find me and make me feel like I gotta pick no sides or no crazy shit, I ain’t saying nothin’. It’s music at the end of the day.”
