PnB Rock‘s shooting death earlier this month may have involved a fourth suspect who authorities say played an instrumental role in the fatal robbery.
Details of the fourth suspect’s involvement were revealed in the felony complaint filed against Freddie Lee Trone and his still-unnamed 17-year-old son, who is accused of robbing PnB and his girlfriend and ultimately killing the rapper.
According to Fox 11 Los Angeles, prosecutors say an unidentified man was outside of Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles in South Los Angeles when the couple arrived. The man waited outside of the restaurant until Trone arrived. The two were seen having a conversation before Trone left and came back with his son.
Authorities say Trone dropped his son off within walking distance of Roscoe’s. The 17-year-old then entered the restaurant, allegedly pointed a gun at PnB’s girlfriend Steph Sibounheuang saying: “Give me all of your jewelry now!”
Moments later the young man allegedly shot the rapper (real name Rakim Allen) once in the chest, then two more times in the back after he had fallen to the ground. As PnB lay on the floor, the teenage suspect reportedly pointed the gun at Sibounheuang once again and said, “Show me your hands, give me that — right now. I swear to God! I shoot you in the head!”
After taking her jewelry, witnesses say he took PnB’s chains, watch and rings off as the rapper lay bleeding. Police say the suspect then ran to his father’s car, and the two went home.
The details presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration on Thursday (September 29) offer a new timeline than what was originally believed. At the time of the 17-year-old’s arrest on Tuesday (September 27), authorities believed that he and his father were already in the parking lot when PnB Rock and his girlfriend arrived at Roscoe’s for lunch.
Shortly after the young man was arrested, his stepmother Shauntel Trone was also taken into custody in Gardena, California, and is accused of being an accessory after the fact. Her husband was arrested by an FBI-led fugitive task force in Las Vegas on Thursday.
Both Freddie Lee Trone and his son were charged with one count of murder, two counts of second-degree robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery.
This week’s developments in the PnB Rock murder investigation stood in stark contrast with early speculation that an Instagram post in which Sibounheuang tagged her location led to the “MIDDLE CHILD” rapper’s death.
Following the teen’s arrest and the issuance of the warrant for the elder Trone, Cardi B spoke out in defense of the late rapper’s girlfriend.
“Told y’all……Yall must not know how the hood moves,” Cardi wrote. “Y’all owe that girl a apology for the shit y’all put her through knowing that she saw her baby dad die in her face….Social media investigators YALL SUCK!!!!”
PnB Rock, who was 30 years old at the time of his death, was laid to rest in his hometown of Philadelphia in a Muslim funeral ceremony on September 21.
