Rick Ross Celebrates Fat Trel's Prison Release Following 2018 Weapons Arrest

Rick Ross signed Atlanta rapper Fat Trel to Maybach Music Group in 2013. After releasing one project for the label, Gleesh (2014), the 31-year-old rapper eventually ran into some legal trouble and wound up behind bars.

But now, Fat Trel is a free man and his former MMG boss was there to celebrate the occasion. On Sunday (October 24), Rick Ross posted a photo of himself posing with Fat Trel to Instagram with the caption, “Freedom is Priceless! Let’s all welcome back home FAT TREL @fat_gleesh_Back to da MONEY $$$…. The Real won’t Fail.”

In July 2018, Fat Trel was arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition after police pulled him over for traffic violations, less than a year after getting out of jail for DWI, narcotics distribution, speeding and driving on a revoked license.

After discovering he had a suspended driver’s license and no identification, they performed a search of the vehicle and discovered the weapon. The 40-caliber pistol loaded was later identified as a “ghost gun,” meaning it was created to function as a firearm.

Fat Trel pleaded guilty for the illegal possession of a ghost gun in 2020 and was facing a maximum of 10 years in prison. But in September, U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis decided he’d only be sentenced to two years and six months in federal prison and three years of supervised release.

According to a video posted to Twitter, Fat Trel was released on October 15. Check out the clip below.
