The ongoing rivalry between Rick Ross and 50 Cent has reignited following public discourse surrounding the commercial performance of Ross’ latest project, Set in Stone. As the industry awaits official first-week figures, the two hip-hop moguls have traded barbs on social media, keeping their long-standing feud in the headlines.
On Thursday, July 23, Rick Ross addressed the skepticism surrounding his new LP, which was released on July 17. In a video shared via his Instagram Story, the Bawse remained defiant, declaring, “Album of the year. Whenever the final numbers come in, I’ma throw a party. Because the B.O.A.T. can do this.”
Ross did not stop at defending his work; he quickly pivoted to challenge 50 Cent directly. Referencing the rapper’s business dealings in Shreveport, Louisiana, Ross questioned, “How’s it going in Shreveport? You borrowed all them people money. Did you give the money back?… Give them people back they money, Curtis.”
50 Cent, known for his relentless social media presence, was quick to counter. He took to Instagram to mock the reported sales figures, writing, “LOL HE GOT AWAY WITH IT FOR A WHILE, BUT ITS OVER NOW JIG IS UP! 20 features under 10 thousand sales Damn boy it’s over.” In a subsequent post, 50 Cent shared a clip discussing the challenges Ross has faced regarding tour ticket sales, captioning the video, “The Boat sank album went wood LOL Nobody checking for that bullsh*t!”
This latest exchange follows earlier comments from 50 Cent, who claimed that despite featuring 20 guest artists, the album struggled to move units. “Yo had 20 features and it didn’t help,” 50 Cent wrote earlier this week. “Alright now pack it up it’s over officer. Get ya bum juice and ya wings and get the f**k up outta here. LOL.”
As the music world waits for the official first-week sales data to be finalized at the start of next week, the tension between these two icons shows no signs of cooling down.
