T-Pain Says Future Would Beat Him In Verzuz Only Because He's Popular Now

Verzuz is one of the most successful platforms to launch in the COVID-19 pandemic, and fans of the battle series are constantly guessing who’ll be next to take the stage. T-Pain had already graced the Verzuz platform in his battle with Lil Jon last year, but it seems like fans want to see him in another contest.

During T-Pain’s recent visit to Drink Champs, N.O.R.E. asked the Florida singer how a Verzuz battle would go down with Future. T-Pain had to think about the proposed heavyweight match but gave an answer that many felt was logical.

“To the public, Future would win,” T-Pain said. “Absolutely. Because it’s right now. We don’t have the same records. What’s the feel-good records — what would Future play after ‘Bartender?’ What would he play after ‘I’m Sprung?’ Cause we gotta match records.”

He added, “When you play records, you gotta match records. If I play ‘If I Could Change The World’ with me, Diddy, Mary J. Blige, and Akon, what’s Future going to play after that? We in two different categories.”

It’s important to note that T-Pain had an alleged beef with Future back in 2013. He reflected on those issues he had with Future during his Drink Champs interview.

“My problem with Future was never a problem,” T-Pain explained. “It was Khaled’s problem. When they put out ‘I Woke Up In A New Bugatti,’ they had posted my Bugatti in their shit. You know what it was like? When your homeboy got a Tinder date in the apartment, and your homeboy got on your shirt that you use for Tinder Dates.”

T-Pain continued, “If you going on a date, and you ask your homeboy if you can borrow his shirt and your homeboy shows up to the date and says ‘Nice shirt, looks real fuckin’ familiar.’ That’s how the whole Future beef started.”

The problem between T-Pain and Future had amplified thanks to fans making it a big deal. According to T-Pain, it was a simple issue of someone using something that was his and acting as they own it.

“He didn’t get mad,” laughs Pain. “Future never gets mad…He ignored the whole shit.”
