Timbaland’s Rap Partner Magoo Catches Props On Twitter After Being Called ‘Wackest Rapper Ever’

Posted by

Magoo is receiving his flowers on social media right now – even though things started off quite differently.

On Saturday (May 16), a Twitter user shared quite the hot take on Timbaland’s rap partner. With a clip of the Virginia native’s verse from his and Timbo’s 1997 hit “Luv 2 Luv U,” the woman declared Magoo the worst to ever hit a mic.

“Ladies and gentlemen I present to you the WORST rapper to ever exist,” the woman wrote with crying emojis.

This immediately prompted a response from people who were around to see the “Up Jumps Da Boogie” rapper in his prime, quick to note that his bars were practically elite compared to some of the music being released today.

“Correction: He was below average THEN,” personality Van Lathan wrote in response. “Looking back on it. We were lucky to have him. At least the nigga was actually rapping.”

TSR STAFF: Christina C! @cdelafresh ___ #TSRReactionz: If you don’t recognize the name “Magoo,” then exit stage left, chile. You’re already too young for this conversation. ___ For the rest of us, I need to know how y’all feel about Magoo being called “the worst rapper to exist,” a claim that had Black Twitter up in arms today. ___ Magoo, who rolled in Timbaland and Missy Elliott’s crew in the 90s/2000s, contributed bars for classic songs including “Luv 2 Luv,” “Up Jumps Da Boogie” among other hits. You can basically consider what Magoo is to Tim as to what Memphis Bleek was to Jay-Z. ___ While Twitter agreed he wasn’t up to par with the rappers of his time, people felt Magoo does not deserve the title of the “the worst rapper,” while people threw out a few other names for that race. SWIPE and let us know what your thoughts are on this debate.

Another Twitter user chimed in to praise Magoo’s bars, while reasoning that the original poster and anyone else agreeing were likely too young to experience the music in its heyday. Others offered up alternative options for the “worst” title, throwing other rappers under the bus including Silkk The Shocker, Blueface and even OG rap legend, E-40.
