Saint Etienne have shared the video for new song ‘Penlop’.
The group will release new album ‘I’ve Been Trying To Tell You’ on September 10th, and it will be accompanied by a short film.
The film airs in full at BFI Southbank in London on September 3rd, with a portion acting as their latest video.
‘Penlop’ opens with rugged electronic beats, before building into the kind of digi-pop fantasia only Saint Etienne can provide.
The Alasdair McLellen shot visuals focus on neon-lit after-hour decadence, alongside an intimate view of working class life.
Beautifully done, it’s the perfect counterpoint for Saint Etienne’s outstanding songwriting.
The band’s Bob Stanley comments…
‘Penlop’ is one of my favourite songs on the album. Sarah’s vocal makes me think of a travel guide, walking you around your half-remembered memories of the late nineties. Pete’s production on this is wonderful, I like the way it bursts wide open at the end, like someone breaking through from the past into the present day.
Tune in now.
