The celebrated songwriter Fionn Regan is set to return with his eighth studio album, Berlin, Berlin, arriving on January 22nd. This new collection follows the intricate, gorgeous arrangements of his 2024 release, O Avalanche.
In a departure from his previous methods, Regan approached this project with a focus on speed and simplicity. Seeking to challenge his own creative process, he aimed to capture a raw, immediate energy in the studio. Recorded in East London, the album was completed in a remarkably short timeframe—spanning just five or six days—to ensure the music retained a sense of spontaneity.
Reflecting on the creative philosophy behind the record, Regan noted, “One of the things with the album is I made it fast – super-fast. Five days, maybe six days. I wanted the songs to feel like maybe the record is something that’s come straight out of the ground. It’s like the ‘first thought, best thought’ kind of approach. That kind of slightly Jack Kerouac-y idea of just doing something, not thinking about it, and then making it.”
Berlin, Berlin will be released via Cormorant Bird. To support the new music, the artist has also announced a comprehensive UK and Ireland tour scheduled for Spring 2027. Fans have already been given a taste of the album’s sound through the new single, ‘Hurricane Bruise’, which balances a delicate, gossamer-like quality with subtle Baroque flourishes.
The tracklist for Berlin, Berlin is as follows:
1. Hurricane Bruise
2. Don’t Forget Your Friends
3. Black Silk Dress
4. Berlin
5. White Gold
6. Your Love Is Like Wine
7. Michibiki No Hoshi
