Rapper Azealia Banks has officially traded her life in New York for a new chapter in Tel Aviv. The Harlem native recently took to social media to announce the move, emphasizing that she has finally discovered a creative community that allows her to work without the interpersonal conflicts she felt hindered her progress elsewhere. For those following her journey, this Azealia Banks move marks a significant shift in both her personal life and her professional approach to music.

In a post shared on X on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, the artist revealed her new living situation, noting that while the idea of moving to Israel once seemed unlikely to her, the reality has been surprisingly positive. “If you would have told me years ago I’d end up moving to Tel Aviv and liking it, I would have said you’re crazy,” she wrote. Addressing the distance, she dismissed comparisons to moving to Australia, pointing out that the travel time between Tel Aviv and New York is comparable to the distance between New York and Los Angeles.

Beyond the logistics, Banks highlighted the maturity of the local arts scene as a primary driver for her relocation. She expressed that she is finally making progress on her upcoming album, finding a sense of camaraderie that was previously missing. “People aren’t withholding stems and holding grudges about social issues and it’s freeing,” she explained. “Everyone in Israel thinks my political opinions f—ing suck and think I have trash taste in men, but no one is trying to sabotage me for that. This is the most creatively enabled I’ve felt in years.”

The move is particularly notable given the artist’s complicated history with the region. While she first performed in Tel Aviv in 2018, she had previously expressed hesitation about returning following allegations of negative experiences. Despite those past sentiments, she has since performed in the country multiple times and is currently scheduled to take the stage at the Tel Aviv Amphitheater on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026. As she settles into her new home, Banks remains focused on her craft, seemingly unbothered by the public discourse surrounding her decision.
