Nicki Minaj has been giving out flowers to her peers left, right and center lately, with rap rookie Coi Leray receiving especially high praise from the Queen of Hip Hop.

However, that doesn’t mean Nicki has turned into a “yes” person who tells artists what they want to hear. Following the release of Coi’s debut album Trendsetter on Friday (April 8), the Pink Friday rapper took to Twitter to share her honest thoughts on the project.

The outspoken Queens, New York native listed off the songs she feels contains Coi Leray’s most impressive performances, but also offered some constructive criticism as to how she’d improve the album.

“#NoMoreParties is too classic for y’all to leave the original off,” she tweeted on Saturday (April 9), referencing the solo version of Coi’s platinum-certified hit that got left on the cutting room floor and replaced by the Lil Durk-assisted remix.

“These r the songs I think Coi shines on & should’ve been higher on the tracklist,” she continued before listing off “Twinnem, “Anxiety,” “Heart in a Coffin, “Heartbreak Kid,” “Too Far” and “Aye Yai Yai” featuring Yung Bleu.

Coi Leray caught wind of Nicki’s tweet and embraced the criticism like a pro. “Ohhhhhhhhhhhh YA SELECTS IS FIREEEEEEEEEEE,” she replied shortly after.

It’s no surprise Nicki Minaj gave Trendsetter a close listen considering she appears on the album. After her father, Hip Hop media personality Benzino, threatened to sabotage the collaboration by ruining the rollout, Coi Leray managed to snag a coveted feature from Nicki on the fiery single “Blick Blick.”

Following the song’s release last month, Young Money’s First Lady heaped high praise on the 24-year-old New Jersey native, listing off the many that qualities that make her a star.

“Face not looking 20 years older than her real age. STANDS OUT FROM THE CROWD even on the RED CARPET. Wish I had this confidence @ this age. You go mama.”
