Seminal California band CEREMONY have shared their new single, ‘Dark Summer’, offering a compelling glimpse into their evolving sound. The track serves as a precursor to their upcoming album, ‘Tell Me Your Dream’, which is slated for release on August 7th.

The record finds the band—comprising Ross Farrar, Anthony Anzaldo, Andy Nelson, Justin Davis, and Jake Casarotti—operating at the peak of their creative powers. By collaborating with producer John Reis, a foundational figure in the West Coast underground scene, the group successfully navigates the delicate balance between raw punk intensity and refined melodic sensibilities.

‘Dark Summer’ epitomizes this artistic synthesis. It is a vibrant blast of jangle-pop energy that feels both immediate and nostalgic, drawing subtle parallels to Bob Mould’s influential work with Sugar. The result is a forceful, honest, and visceral listening experience.

Reflecting on the thematic depth of the track, the band shared: “In Rock ‘n Roll music, feedback occurs when a guitar is purposely moved too close to an amplifier – like a dark summer – when dread finds you amid brilliant sunshine, it feels disorienting, confusing, and chaotic. What you’re left with is malaise, doldrums of sorts that are both beautiful and terrifying.”
