Davion Murphy, one of the four individuals convicted in the 2024 murder of Foolio, has been sentenced to an additional five years behind bars. This new sentence comes despite Murphy already serving a life sentence for his role in the high-profile killing of the Jacksonville rapper.
According to court documents obtained by XXL, the sentencing followed a hearing on July 15, 2026. The additional time stems from an incident that occurred in February 2025, during which Murphy was involved in a physical altercation with a corrections officer. Reports indicate that Murphy punched the officer in the face while incarcerated. Murphy entered a guilty plea for the assault on June 29, 2026. The five-year term will run concurrently with his existing life sentence, and he has been credited with 536 days of time served.
This legal development arrives just one week after Murphy and his co-defendants—Isaiah Chance, Sean Gathright, and Rashad Murphy—were formally sentenced to life in prison for the June 2024 ambush and murder of Foolio in a Tampa hotel parking lot. During his sentencing hearing, Davion Murphy addressed the court, using the opportunity to maintain his innocence while offering a message to younger generations.
“I just want to say to the Gen Z generation, change your life and do something productive with your life because in this predicament, it ain’t worth it,” Murphy told the court.
The broader case has seen significant judicial activity, with a fifth individual, Alicia Andrews, receiving a 15-year sentence last month after being found guilty of manslaughter. Prosecutors have maintained that the murder was a calculated act stemming from an ongoing gang feud in Jacksonville, Florida.
