Alex Chilltown's 'Barely Awake' Was Inspired By A Short, Intense Love Affair

London based project Alex Chilltown return with exotic new single ‘Barely Awake’.

The band are led by Josh Esaw, a vivid songwriter whose raw originality takes him into a fresh space.

New album ‘Eulogies’ lands on January 24th, broadening Alex Chilltown’s scope while refining their potency.

We’re able to share new single ‘Barely Awake’, this potent, dreamy piece of guitar pop that carries a hallucinogenic haze.

The song was prompted by a short, intense love affair, with the passion-driven lyricism reflecting on love and loss.

Josh explains…

“The song was originally written about a breakup from years ago, it was a very short relationship that was very intense but imploded very quickly.”

“It was sitting around in demos and I’d never really done anything with it because I wasn’t happy with the arrangement but I started working on it and accidentally ended up with what we came up with which was much different than the original stripped back guitar form. I guess now I can look at it with more hindsight.”

Tune in now.

‘Eulogies’ is out on January 24th. Catch Alex Chilltown on February 5th at London’s Rough Trade East.
