Cat Burns Shows Her Reflective Side With 'I Don't Blame You'

South London riser Cat Burns has many different sides to her work.

Recent EP ‘Naïve’ was a bubbly pop document, with the potent songwriting infused by her fondness for soul and gospel.

Indeed, she takes this one step further on her new single, with ‘I Don’t Blame You’ finding Cat on reflective form.

It’s a sparse, introspective return, with the London artist pouring her heart into every single note. It’s a song about forgiveness, family, and moving on, one that is intertwined with her own life.

“Learning how to forgive will be the best thing you ever do in life,” says Cat. “’I Don’t Blame You’ is about my childhood and the strained relationship with my Dad. I had a lot of resentment mixed with anger and hurt. I found that it was stunting my mental growth and emotional maturity. I needed a way to say exactly what I was thinking to him in an honest yet vulnerable way.”

“This song is my way of healing, and I hope it can help others who are in similar situations find peace within their own lives & relationships.”
