Bru-C has been a stalwart figure of the underground music scene for years. A local hero in Nottingham, the MC has pioneered and defined the trajectory of bassline for the best part of decade, plying his craft and finessing a sound that is distinctly his own. As an integral part of the scene-leading Crucast collective and as a multi-disciplinary solo force, he’s pushed forward dynamic new soundscapes that runs the gamut of DnB, electro house, garage and more.
In 2019, Bru-C finally stepped into the light becoming a force in his own right. He released his debut full-length ‘Original Sounds’, featuring his foray into drum and bass with ‘You and I, which quickly became the definitive hit of the summer, and his most-streamed track, completing his transition to the mainstream.
Bru-C’s sophomore album, ‘Smile’, released on Friday, is a 15-track, life-affirming celebration of UK music culture. The Midlands-born MC further displays his legerdemain as a master craftsman, melding together elements of drum & bass, grime, bassline and garage with an all-star line-up of guest collaborators. It’s a definitive collection of bangers and more meditative cuts, intended to bring levity to a murky year; a sonic balm for both creator and listener.

“The reality is that kids who might be going through dark times might not have anyone to talk to. It’s can be hard to break that cycle of negative thinking, so I wanted to make an album that spoke directly to those people, that might help them see that they can get through it and that they’re not alone.”
Outside of music, Bru-C is the creator of several ever-growing businesses including events and fashion brand Krudd, as sold out club nights and clothing lines become intrinsically associated with his name. With an unquestionable natural flair and passion, and work ethic to match, Bru-C has proved himself as a pivotal figure not just within music, but UK culture as a whole.
