Neneh Cherry Shares Re-Imagined 'Buffalo Stance' Video

Neneh Cherry has shared a re-imagined version of her ‘Buffalo Stance’ video.

The lead single from her seminal ‘Raw Like Sushi’ full length, ‘Buffalo Stance’ stands as a seminal moment in British music.

Fusing hip-hop culture, synth pop, and more with an aggressively British, overtly feminine attitude, it’s undoubtedly a trailblazing single.

Judy Blame styled the original video, tapping into cross-currents of youth culture to complete the project.

Award-winning London based film maker Stephen Isaac-Wilson has delivered a re-imagined version of the video, tapping into those original reference points while saluting the video’s influence on youth culture.

Matching archive footage against newly shot figures, it invites you to contrast the UK underground in 1989 with 2019.

Stephen comments:

“I wanted to make something that celebrated some of the moments and figures of UK club culture and observed the cultural and political similarities between 1989 and 2019, whilst attempting to pay homage to the energy, spirit and vibrancy of the original Buffalo Stance music video.”
