SPQR opened 2020 on a high.
Playing a number of stellar support slots, the Liverpool art-rock band matched this with some intense studio sessions.
New EP ‘No Brain, No Pain’ is out now, fusing their math-leaning rhythms to buoyant yet intricate melody.
The physical edition sold out almost instantly, with SPQR maintaining a close relationship with their fans.
The title track has now gained a full video, and it twists the time-lapse trope to provide something genuinely arresting.
It’s a fun clip, one that is ever-evolving while maintaining a glimpse of the band’s character.
Commenting on the footage, frontman Peter Harrison says:
“Originally, Bex (Denton, drums) had a great idea of doing a time-lapse video where you watch people’s hair grow really fast – we all liked the idea but no one knew how to execute it, and it was just difficult enough that no one was getting proactive with it.”
“So we turned once again to our beloved friend and director Liam Powell who took up the reins – and with an astounding editing job – turned footage of us singing the song at half speed at home into something mesmerising and eye catching.”
“Once again thank you Liam for pulling it all out of the bag and saving the band. As you always do.”
