Brandy joined forces with Chance The Rapper for a new single called “Baby Mama,” which will also provide some financial relief for single parents amidst the coronavirus crisis. Inspired by her daughter, Sy’rai, “Baby Mama” is an ode to mothers everywhere that arrives just in time for Mother’s Day (May 10).
“My new single is about embracing the strength and fortitude needed not only in motherhood, but in life,” she said of the Hit-Boy-produced track in a press release. “I am thrilled that Chance joined me on this track, and I hope my fans find it as uplifting as I intended it to be!”
Partnering with Warrick Dunn Charities, the single was released as part of a fundraiser for Homes for the Holidays — a nonprofit that works with affordable housing providers to furnish single parent’s homes, provide down payment assistance, pantry foods and other household essentials.
According to the release, “Baby Mama” will be accompanied by an official video, dropping next Monday (May 4). The single is also the first offering from Brandy’s forthcoming album, which will mark her first LP since 2012’s Two Eleven. Her new project is expected to arrive later this year.
