Cardi B Announces Release Date For Highly Anticipated Single 'Hot Shit'

While the 2022 BET Awards were in full swing at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday night (June 26), Cardi B was putting her 136 million Instagram followers on on notice. According to a recent post, the Grammy Award-winning rapper’s next single, “Hot Shit,” will arrive on Friday (July 1) — but that isn’t all.

“My new single ‘Hot Shit’ available everywhere THIS FRIDAY 7/1,” she captioned the post. “Tomorrow 8pm I got another surprise for yall, tune in.”

The post included a brief 15-second teaser of the single which basically consists of Cardi saying, “Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah” several times over a bass-heavy beat.

It’s been four since Cardi B dropped her debut album Invasion of Privacy. Earlier this month, the mother of two promised her fans via her long-awaited sophomore effort would be worth the wait.  As part of the tweet, Cardi shared a video that combined clips from various music videos, including “Get Up 10,” “Drip,” “Money Bag,” “Bodak Yellow” and more playing in the background.

“Just a little reminder feeling like 2020 when I had to come out and STEP to remind them,” she added. “S-IM GONNA STOMP THIS TIME AROUND.”

Review: Cardi B’s “Invasion Of Privacy” Has Blockbuster Aspirations & Decent Results

Invasion of Privacy debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 upon its release, with 255,176 total album-equivalent units moved (102,810 in pure album sales and a streaming count of 202,647,961). Those streaming numbers also set a new record for the largest on-demand streaming week ever for a woman.

The album was the second biggest release of 2018 (behind Justin Timberlake’s Man On The Woods) and biggest R&B/Hip Hop release since Eminem’s Revival moved 267,000 units in December 2017.

Cardi B’s star power has only grown since then and fans are undoubtedly ready for another album.
