Last night, on the first anniversary of the tragic Eaton Fire in Southern California, Dawes and their pal John C. Reilly hosted their Concert For Altadena benefit. All proceeds went to the Altadena Builds Back Foundation, and the lineup featured performances from the Killers’ Brandon Flowers, Stephen Stills, Rilo Kiley’s Jenny Lewis (whose 50th birthday is today), Lord Huron, Rufus Wainwright, Mandy Moore (who’s married to Dawes frontman Taylor Goldsmith), and more.
Flowers joined Dawes for a couple of Killers classics like “When You Were Young” along with a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Promised Land.” Brad Paisley helped out Dawes, Stills, and Lucius for a rendition of the Stills-penned “Love The One You’re With,” while they also did a cover of Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth” with backing vocals from Aloe Blacc. Lewis and Dawes did Lewis’ solo highlight “Rise Up (With Fists!!),” and Moore and Dawes did a folksy rendition of Moore’s 1999 teen-pop jam “Candy.” All the performers then joined Dawes for a big group cover of the Beatles’ “With A Little Help From My Friends.” See highlights below.
