There’s no questioning whether Freddie Gibbs has the utmost confidence in his skills as a rapper. He never shies away from asserting his dominance over his rap peers and likes to troll many of them on social media.
On Wednesday (July 6), Freddie hopped on Twitter to gloat once more, picking at the rappers he’s collaborated with on songs and giving credit to a Houston legend for inspiring his competitive spirit. According to the Alfredo rapper, some artists don’t even realize they were getting dissed on a song they did with him, and all thanks go to Bun B for making Gibbs confident in his rhymes.
“I’ve honestly rapped on songs with n-ggaz and dissed them on the same song. I’m just competitive like that,” Gibbs tweeted. “I didn’t have real confidence in my raps until I rapped with a real professional rapper. Bun B gave me that. Once I rapped with him u couldn’t really tell me shit.”

The 40-year-old didn’t clarify who he’s talking about regarding his collaborative records, but he clearly respects Bun B. The two joined forces a few times on records such as Freddie Gibbs’ “Rock Bottom” and “Oil Money” off his 2010 project Str8 Killa.
Freddie Gibbs will be taking the stage in September when he performs at Brooklyn’s Afropunk Festival. The annual event will be returning for its first in-person festival since 2019, and performers will include Isaiah Rashad, Tierra Whack, Mick Jenkins, BbyMutha, Earl Sweatshirt, Pink Siifu, The Roots and others.
