Kanye West’s Twitter rant referencing the movie Get Out caught the attention of one of the film’s stars. Lakeith Stanfield, who portrayed Andre Hayworth (a character possessed by a white man named Logan King) in Jordan Peele’s hit flick, was taken aback by Yeezy’s comment about the movie.
“Well damn,” Stanfield wrote as the caption to a screenshot of Kanye’s tweet.
Yeezy’s since-deleted post claimed, “Everybody knows the movie get out is about me.”

Kanye’s support of Donald Trump and outlandish comments about slavery have led to people joking about him being in the Sunken Place, which is a trance-like void depicted in Get Out. Peele, the film’s director, told Rolling Stone the Sunken Place is “a new term we have to aid us in the discussion of what appears, to me, to be Black people choosing an ideology that is racist against Black people.”
Although Yeezy has lightheartedly referred to himself being in the Sunken Place in the past, his latest spree of Twitter posts evoked more sinister imagery from Get Out. Amid concerns for his mental health, Kanye described his wife Kim Kardashian as trying to silence him like the Black characters in the movie who get trapped through the use of hypnotherapy.
“Kim was trying to fly to Wyoming with a doctor to lock me up like on the movie Get Out because I cried about saving my daughters life yesterday,” Kanye wrote in another since-deleted tweet.
After lashing out at his wife and his mother-in-law Kris Jenner online, Kanye got a visit from his friend Dave Chappelle in Wyoming on Tuesday (July 21). The G.O.O.D. Music founder appeared to be in good spirits, sharing a video of himself with the comedy legend.
“THANK YOU DAVE FOR HOPPING ON A JET TO COME SEE ME DOING WELL,” ‘Ye wrote on Twitter. “DAVE YOU ARE A GOD SEND AND A TRUE FRIEND ALL LOVE.”
Kanye’s recent behavior is believed to be a bipolar episode. In a 2019 interview with David Letterman, he said he feels a “heightened connection with the universe” when he’s “ramping up” during these moments in his life.
