The week of Gunna isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Already armed with the first social media catchphrase of 2022, the Atlanta-bred rapper is proving to have staying power near the top of the Billboard 200 chart with DS4Ever.
According to Billboard, Gunna’s fourth and final installment in the Drip Season series bowed at No. 2 on this week’s chart with an estimated 96,000 total album-equivalent units earned. The figure is a small drop from his impressive first week, but it’s enough for him to maintain his hold on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Album chart for a second straight week.
Behind Gunna on the album chart overall and the Hip Hop chart is The Weeknd’s Dawn FM. With an estimated 61,000 total album-equivalent units earned, The Weeknd’s latest effort is falling behind even sales prognosticators projections.
Initially, Dawn FM was set to follow in the footsteps of The Weeknd’s previous albums such as After Hours, Starboy and Beauty Behind The Madness. Instead, it was Gunna who took home the top spot on the Billboard chart and fueled the album’s hype even more thanks to Drake’s guest appearance on “P Power” and the consistent spread of the letter P among socialites, social brands and more.
The concept of “pushin P” went international over the weekend after Gunna ventured to France for Paris Fashion Week. There, he linked with Yasiin Bey and the two not only dapped one another up, they posed for a photo. The woman taking the photo gleefully added to the moment with,”We got Mos Def pushin’ P in Paris!”
