Posted by Jesse Jo Stark will release her new album ‘MUSE’ on November 6th. The Los Angeles-based artist retreated to the stillness of the mountains in Aspen to craft the record, working alongside a close-knit circle of friends and collaborators.
As a deeply intimate project, ‘MUSE’ introduces a familiar sonic language for Stark, echoing the aesthetic of her earlier work while simultaneously stripping back the layers to reveal something more vulnerable. While the cinematic grandeur that fans have come to expect remains, this collection of songs opens up new emotional territory.
The production on the album is notably rawer and more spacious, allowing the vocals to sit at the forefront. The songwriting is direct, weaving together elements of melancholic Americana, bruised rock, and an unvarnished singer-songwriter interiority.
“It was the time to speak without boundary,” she shares. “Even though I felt broken, I also felt an immense amount of freedom. Each day felt so precious. Like I was dancing with a woman I had been hiding from. I was clear.”
Alongside the announcement, Stark has shared her new single ‘colorado’, which she describes as “the womb of the mountains.” The track features pared-back, melancholic guitars beneath an austere vocal, with minimal production that leaves much of the original performance untouched.
