Juice WRLD's Posthumous Song 'Reminds Me Of You' Arrives On 1-Year Anniversary Of His Death

It’s been one year since Juice WRLD died at the age of just 21. To mark the occasion and remember his legacy, the rapper’s estate has released a new single called “Reminds Me of You.” The somber track finds Juice alongside Australian artist and one of his frequent collaborators The Kid LAROI.

Produced by Dr. Luke, Sean Small, Sam Sumser, Theron Thomas and Aaron Joseph, the song is a remake of German singer Kim Petras’ “Reminds Me,” which originally dropped in February.

“Fighting for my heart and baby I never lose,” Juice says on the record. “No, I can’t get high ’cause it reminds me of you/If you ever needed me, girl I was flying to you/Told you that I loved you, girl I wasn’t lying to you.”

The Kid LAROI took to Instagram the day before its release to pay tribute to the late rapper, while giving him credit for his career.

“Thank u for everything bro,” he wrote. “Without you there would be no me. I love and miss u unconditionally. @juicewrld999.”

Kim Petras gave them permission to release their take on the song, which was acknowledged by LAROI on Twitter.

“Big thank you to @kimpetras for allowing us to remake & share our version of her song with the world,” he said.

Juice WRLD passed away on December 8, 2019, after suffering a fatal seizure at Chicago’s Midway Airport. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, he died from an accidental overdose of oxycodone and codeine.

In July, LAROI spoke to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe about his relationship with Juice and what it was like to live with him for a period of time.

“When I first came to L.A., I was living with him for the first three months, before I moved my family out here and stuff like that,” he said. “I was living with him, his girlfriend and all his friends. So, I guess over that time, especially, we got a lot of time to bond and kick it or whatever.

“We were around the house every day. And things like being in the studio, even when we weren’t recording together, he would be in the studio obviously every day recording fucking a million songs. And I would go in there and just watch him and watch how he was doing shit.”

“Reminds Me of You” follows Juice WRLD’s “Real Shit,” a collaboration with Benny Blanco which was released on Wednesday (December 2) to celebrate what would have been his 22nd birthday.
