Hit-Boy made a major reveal via Twitter on Monday afternoon (August 24). Not long after Big Sean confirmed the release date for his forthcoming Detroit 2 album, Hit-Boy revealed it will be executive produced by Kanye West, Hit-Boy and Sean himself.
“I watched bro @bigsean lock in for hours til every bar hit how he wanted it to,” he wrote. “His vision was clear from the jump this is some of his most elevated work on every level. Proud is an understatement!! DETROIT 2. 9/4 executive produced by me Big Sean and Kanye west.”

Hit-Boy has been popping up in headlines lately due to his work on Nas’ latest album King’s Disease. In a recent interview with Apple Music, the Illmatic legend praised Hit-Boy for his work ethic and inspiration in the studio.
“He was able to play music for me that would conjure up these thoughts and these feelings, and I give it to him, man,” he told Zane Lowe. “He made it easy. It was easy to work with him and he really just cared about music and cared about making it happen in real time.
“I would tell him stories of things and he’d say, ‘Well, you might as well say that on the mic.’ When? ‘When? Now.’ Really? Well, if I said it like this, how you like it?’ ‘That’s dope. Say that, man.’ And I’m like, just the encouragement that he gave me was really good. It was really something that I needed, especially because he’s younger than me and he’s recording records for multiple artists.”
Detroit 2 is expected to arrive on September 4. It will serve as Sean’s follow-up to both the 2017 solo effort I Decided and Double Or Nothing, his collaborative project with Metro Boomin’.
