Kehlani was a trending Twitter topic this week after she announced her new video for “Can I” is an ode to sex workers and includes both trans and straight women.
“our video is a ode to sex work,” she tweeted early Thursday morning (July 30). “honoring sex workers. uplifting their movement. that’s it.”

But as Kehlani fielded questions from her fans on the social media platform, she made it clear where she stands in regard to the Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez shooting incident. In another tweet, she assured people Lanez wouldn’t be included on the deluxe version of her latest album It Was Good Until It Wasn’t. His verse, however, remains on the original.
“full transparency cuz i believe in that with my following, his verse is still on the song,” she wrote. “the video is solo. new verse on the deluxe.”

The Los Angeles Police Department is reportedly investigating Lanez’s possible involvement in the July 12 fiasco.
Shortly after an argument broke out at a Hollywood Hills home, police pulled over the black SUV Meg and Lanez were riding in and discovered Lanez had a gun. He was arrested for felony possession of a concealed weapon while Meg was rushed to a hospital with injuries originally believed to be caused by broken glass.
The “Girls In The Hood” rapper later revealed she’d actually been shot in both feet and called the incident the “worst experience” of her life, although she didn’t implicate Lanez in any way.
In the wake of the shooting, a petition calling for Lanez to be deported to Canada has reached over 18,000 signatures.
