Tove Lo Launches Her ‘Estrus’ Era

Swedish alt-pop artist Tove Lo is set to return with her new album, ‘Estrus’, scheduled for release on September 18th. The project marks a significant return to her roots, with recording sessions taking place across Los Angeles, Stockholm, and a remote Swedish fishing village where the songwriter spent her childhood summers—a setting that forced her to confront deeply personal and often uncomfortable memories.

The album’s title, ‘Estrus’, serves as a visceral metaphor for a mammal in heat, framing the record as an exploration of primal, feminine experiences. Discussing the creative process, Tove Lo explains, “Estrus is an animal in heat. It’s primal. It’s my mind and my body wanting different things, wanting everything. There’s no good advice on this album… just a lot of feelings, no solutions.”

The production was helmed by longtime collaborator Ludvig Söderberg, with additional contributions from Elvira Anderfjärd and Luka Kloser. The record also features a notable collaboration with the Belgian-born artist, writer, and producer Stromae.

To celebrate the release, Tove Lo has confirmed a full tour, including two highly anticipated UK shows: Manchester’s O2 Victoria Warehouse on November 5th and London’s O2 Academy Brixton on November 7th.

The lead single, ‘I’m Your Girl Right?’, is available now. The accompanying video, directed by Nogari and filmed in a former monastery outside São Paulo, features a cast of over 70 dancers. Reflecting on the visual, Tove Lo shared: “I know you’ve been waiting a long time and I hope it’s worth the wait. It was for me! We shot this video in Brazil and I think it turned out so stunning. The best crew ever.”
