Travis Scott has teamed up with PlayStation to become a strategic creative partner for the Sony gaming brand. The partnership follows the Billboard record-breaking artist’s popular collaboration with McDonald’s, which launched its Travis Scott Meal in September.
“I’m really looking forward to being able to showcase everything that Cactus Jack has worked on with Sony and the PlayStation team,” Scott said in a press statement. “Most importantly I’m excited to see how the PlayStation fans and family respond, and I look forward to running some games with everybody very soon!”
Scott’s new gig explains how he got his hands on a PlayStation 5 before it’s officially been released. PlayStation praised him for his “deep knowledge and fond memories” of the brand and its products in an announcement on Friday (October 23).
“Travis is an artist who is incredibly innovative, constantly surprising, and continues to push boundaries, very much like the PlayStation brand – so we think this is a perfect fit,” the brand said. “When we embarked on this collaboration, the most important thing was to keep it as open as possible, to allow space to explore interesting, creative ideas.”
Scott’s deal with PlayStation deepens his ties with the Sony Corporation. He’s already signed to Epic Records, which is a subsidiary of Sony Music.
The multi-platinum selling rapper and PlayStation launched their partnership by releasing a promotional video for the PS5. The clip adds to the hype for the new gaming system, which is scheduled to be released on November 12.
