Family of Convicted Foolio Killer Reports Harassment Over GoFundMe

The family of Sean Gathright, one of the four men recently convicted in the 2024 murder of Jacksonville rapper Foolio, has publicly addressed a wave of backlash and hostility directed toward them. On May 15, Gathright’s family launched a GoFundMe campaign with a fundraising goal of $24,000. However, the initiative has been met with significant public outcry, resulting in reports of harassment and death threats.

As of the most recent updates, the campaign has raised less than $900. In a statement shared via Instagram on May 18, the family expressed their frustration regarding the negative reception, noting that the page has been reported multiple times by users.

“We want to address recent reports being made against Sean’s GoFundMe. While we completely understand that not everyone will choose to support, going as far as reporting the fundraiser, sending threats and harassing not only Sean but also his loved ones and family members is truly mean-spirited and completely out of control.”

The statement further urged those who oppose the fundraiser to disengage rather than resort to hostility. “To those that do not support [Sean], we respectfully ask that you simply block, disengage and move forward toward causes you do support rather than hate, threats and negativity,” the family added. Gathright has also utilized his social media presence to share a video thanking those who have chosen to support him.

The legal proceedings surrounding the case have been intense. On May 8, Sean Gathright, along with co-defendants Isaiah Chance, Davion Murphy, and Rashad Murphy, were found guilty on all charges related to the 2024 killing of the rapper. Following the verdict, the jury reached a decision on May 15 to reject the death penalty for the convicted men. All four individuals are currently awaiting sentencing, which is scheduled for June 22.
